Equine Niagara News

March 5, 2009  Issue 2

Welcome To
Equine Niagara Logo

The first issue of Equine Niagara News was quite well received to our pleasure. This little venture is proving to take a lot of time, but it seems the efforts are well worth it. People are starting to send in their submissions for directory listings and classifieds, plus email for more information. We're loving it.
The Calendar of Events is changing rapidly, check back often for new updates and we're currently redesigning the Horse Show Page for easier access to information.

The classified section was redesigned this week to allow you to post your ads yourself. That is proving helpful and a great time saver for us. This week alone there are many new listings - check them out.

It seems there is a glitch with the directory listing form as it only works with some computer systems. We are trying to get this ironed out. In the meantime, if you have submitted a listing and it is not posted, chances are we didn't get. Please resubmit it as a regular email or fill out the form, print it and fax it to us at 905-684-3545.

This site is geared to everything equine in Niagara, so please let us know of any activities happening that have to do with horses. We are severely lacking in the area of mini's, driving, barrels, reigning, etc. Help us grow the site and send in your information.
We hope Equine Niagara News will be your one-stop resource for everything "equine" in Niagara Region.

The site's most valuable resource is the Equine Niagara News Calendar of Events.

Other features include:
·
Equine Niagara Directory
· Club & Organization News
· Clinics & Events
· Horse Shows
· Classifieds

Horse Tales, training tips, health news and Horses & People in the News are all other aspects of the sites coming soon.

Check back often the site grows almost daily.

This year's Upper Canada Equestrian Association's Annual Nicky Aiken Memorial Ride for Breast Cancer is shaping up to be quite the event. With first place (for most money raised for Breast Cancer) being a $1800 Western show saddle donated by Port Pontiac, Buick, GMC and HorseWorld Emporium and now with the addition of a $500 sheepskin bareback pad donated by Reign Equestrian and Athletics - the ride is drawing huge interest. From The Horse's Mouth:

Niagara Cup Series: Series schedule should be complete and available for the next issue of Equine Niagara News.

Niagara Horse & RiderNiagara Horse & Rider: It's back. After speaking with the editor last night Equine Niagara News has learned that the next issue of the magazine is currently at the printers ready for distribution this weekend or by Monday at the latest. It's long overdue and well anticipated.

Niagara EqWine FestivalNiagara EqWine Festival: Plans are underway for a "big" equine event to take place this fall here in Niagara - September 25th, 26th and 27th to be exact. The event is being organized by Elie BenDavid of Niagara Horse & Rider. He is anticipating a huge draw for this 3-day event encompassing both the equine industry as well as the wine industry. Elie tells Equine Niagara News Chris Irwin and the Wild Wild West Show have confirmed for those dates and he is still working on getting the Canadian Cow Girls here as well. Live bands, vendors, music, trail rides, horse shows and clinics are all expected to take place at the event, with hopes to draw competitors and visitors from all over Ontario and Western New York. Equine Niagara News wishes Elie good luck in putting this event together.

New Major Equine Facility In The Works: Equine Niagara News has also discovered the possibility of a major equine facility being built in the Niagara Region. While we have absolutely no details, we do know a survey is being conducted here in Niagara to determine whether the Niagara Region equine industry can support a large facility for multi-purpose use. No land has been purchased as of yet, like we said, this is in the early planning stages. Let us know your thoughts on this one! Editor's Note: While Equine Niagara News' survey is not over until the end of the month, those that have completed it have asked for such a facility to house more clinics and day camps for children. Interesting!
