Welcome
To

The Calendar
of Events is changing rapidly, check back often for
new updates and we're currently redesigning the Horse
Show Page for easier access to information.
The classified
section was redesigned this week to allow you to post your ads yourself.
That is proving helpful and a great time saver for us. This week alone
there are many new listings - check them out.
It seems there is a glitch with the directory
listing form as it only works with some computer
systems. We are trying to get this ironed out. In the meantime, if you
have submitted a listing and it is not posted, chances are we didn't get.
Please resubmit it as a regular email or fill out the form, print it and
fax it to us at 905-684-3545.
This site is geared to everything equine in Niagara, so please let us
know of any activities happening that have to do with horses. We are
severely lacking in the area of mini's, driving, barrels, reigning, etc.
Help us grow the site and send in your information.
We hope Equine Niagara News will be
your one-stop resource for everything "equine" in Niagara
Region.
The site's most valuable resource
is the Equine Niagara News Calendar of Events.
Other features include:
· Equine Niagara
Directory
· Club & Organization
News
· Clinics &
Events
· Horse Shows
· Classifieds
Horse Tales, training tips,
health news and Horses & People in the News are all other aspects of
the sites coming soon.
Check back often the site grows
almost daily.

From
The Editor
Equine Niagara News
is growing in leaps and bounds. Thanks for everyone's input and keep it
coming. We're enjoying this little venture immensely and hope to grow it
bigger and better with each passing week. Have a story idea - let us know
- and please don't be afraid to "toot your own horn". That's
what it's all about. People cannot find out what you do, if you do not
tell your story.
Again, we ask for info on mini's, driving, racing and specialized breed
information. The site is lacking in these areas.
NEW within the next few weeks - is our Horse Camp page. Be sure to
send me your camps!
Also of note, I am in Mexico this week, so please if you feel the site
has not been kept up-to-date, or you haven't received a response from a
submission, don't worry, I'll get back on top of things as soon as I'm
back in Canada on the 21st. I will be checking emails while away, but not
available by phone. Enjoy the week - hopefully you're not buried in snow.
This newsletter was written prior to me leaving for Mexico, hopefully all
of it stays current and informational for you while I'm gone.
And don't forget to drop us a line on our facebook group, we look forward
to hearing from all of you.

Local Cowboys on
Canadian TV Series
Equine Niagara News
recently found 4 local cowboys on a Canadian TV Series entitled
"Murdoch Mysteries." Mark
Dobrindt, Russ Vamplew, John McMahon and Tom Bishop Jr.
were all seen in the show as cowboys in the recent airing of the
"Mild Mild West" Episode - the first of Season II.
Mark, Russ and John are both employed by Tom Bishop's 4B Ranch
Productions. The company regularly provides horses,
props and "cowboys" for movies, TV series', commercials and
print ads. 4B Ranch Productions has performed worldwide with 3
generations of trick riders, fantastic period wagons, coaches and
props, their own "Wild Wild West Show" and more. Be sure to read the next issue
of Equine
Niagara News
for more on our local celebrities.

The
Murdoch Mysteries
From CityTV website:
Set in 1895 Toronto, Murdoch Mysteries explores the intriguing world of
William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson, Sue Thomas F.B. Eye), a handsome young
detective using radical forensic techniques, like fingerprinting and
trace evidence, to solve some of the city's most gruesome murders.
Though his unconventional approach elicits ridicule from fellow
officers and skepticism from his boss, Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas
Craig, Coronation Street), Murdoch is often the only one who can crack
the case.
Murdoch's small circle of confidantes includes pathologist Dr. Julia
Ogden (Hélène Joy, Durham County), a staunch ally who shares the
detective's fascination with forensic science and Constable George
Crabtree (Jonny Harris, Hatching, Matching and Dispatching), Murdoch's eager
but inexperienced right-hand man. Both are valuable allies who help
Murdoch solve his varied cases and traverse the many stratums of
Victorian society.
To learn more about The Murdoch Mysteries visit: http://site.citytv.com/murdochmysteries/.
The show airs Wednesdays at 10pm on CityTV.

From The Horse's Mouth:
Fort Erie Race Track to Open: As we hear it, the Fort
Erie track is scheduled to re-open on March 22nd with the first race
day being May 2nd. At this point, we don't know how many race days are
scheduled, however, this news is better than the uncertainty of the
past few months.
A New Western
Facility? A few have told Equine Niagara News
of a new facility - well not new, but under new ownership apparently
that hopes to start hosting sorting, roping and other rodeo style
events in the Fort Erie area. More on this when we track down the owner
of the facility - hopefully for the next issue.
Niagara Cup Series: Try as we might, Equine Niagara News.has
still not been able to attain a copy of the Niagara Cup class list
mostly due to busy schedules. We're working on it!
Niagara Horse & Rider: Last issue Equine Niagara News
reported Niagara
Horse & Rider would be published by the weekend of
March 8th. As of March 13th, there was still no sign of the magazine.
In speaking with the editor of the magazine, he assured us the
magazine was being bound and would be out over the next few days (March
13-14th). Unfortunately our office is closed as of the 13th for March
Break so won't find out, if in fact the magazine makes it out over
the weekend. Drop us an email if anyone sees it.
Equine Niagara News
"Meet & Greet": Thank you to all
that attended our "Meet and Greet" at Reign Equestrian &
Athletics on March 8th. It was a pleasure meeting the new faces and
saying hello to those we have already met. A special thanks to Reign
Equestrian for hosting the event.
Your
comments have been very positive about Equine Niagara News - now I only hope
we can keep up with your expectations. Listings, classifieds and
information are starting to come in "almost" faster than we
can handle it - so far, so good! Keep the comments coming - we want to
know what you think of the new site and the newsletter - good or bad.
Of course we love the good comments, but don't worry, we can handle the
criticism too! So please let us know what you think, what you would
like to see on the site and keep us up to date with your events,
listings and anything equine! And, if you haven't already signed up for
the e-newsletter please do so to ensure you always receive the latest
"Equine Niagara

Horse "Tails"
The Courage of Two
A
young girl's dreams of showing her horse and having a farm named
"Courage Meadows" came to a crashing halt early in her young
career. Heather Dilts Baiano struggled long and hard to earn the
respect of her horse and live the life she had always dreamed of
living. And one day, in a horrific car accident, it all came to a halt.
This is Heather's story.
As a young girl, Heather sat in school dreaming of the day she would
grow up to have her own farm to be called "Courage Meadows".
After working hard mucking stalls and working three jobs to support her
first horse, a morgan gelding named Debson's True Blaze, Heather put
herself through Equestrian College and was moving up within the show
world with her gelding. And one day, everything she had worked so hard to
achieve ended in a horrific car accident that ultimately had her and
her husband losing everything they had including her precious Morgan. Click here for complete story.

"Stable" Reading & Viewing
· Hats off to TSA - by Bob Welch - I wear
my hat nearly everywhere I go-including on the plane. It's usually no
big deal. I learned that items do indeed shift during flight, so I
never put it in the overhead bin. It's a custom hat, made by a Brook
Briddle at Powder River Hat Company in Elizabeth, Colo. So I'm a little
protective. I usually carry it in my lap while flying and one time I
had a hungover teenager vomit all over it. We got through that
experience surprisingly OK, however, thanks to a fast-acting
flight attendant. More...

· Affording Your
Horse Habit
So, off you go to make that wish list. New boots, another
saddle pad, a girth, and this year you really want a special show
bridle for your horse. Next step, you look at your pocket book only to
find out there's just not enough money there. So a little planning is
needed. First the boots.
On-line you go! Field boots new - oh my!
You can't afford that. Okay, next item - saddle pad. That one's
reasonable. Next item - show bridle. Ouch! Back to the tack room you go
only to discover you have many pieces of tack and show clothes you
don't use or wear any longer. So you figure if I sell these, I'll get
more money toward the new items you want. But how?
